Study Permit

Canada is a preferred study-abroad destination due to its post-graduate work permit opportunity for international students that may lead to Permanent Residence in Canada. During their studies, students at the post-secondary level are allowed to work part-time (20 hours per week) during the term period, besides unlimited hours on campus. During vacations, students can do full-time jobs.
International students in post-secondary are also allowed to bring their spouses and children to Canada. Their spouse can work full-time with an open work permit, whereas their children are allowed to study in Canada.
Children studying in Canada may be accompanied by their parents, who can remain in Canada on a Visitor visa.
A study Permit is an authorization required by foreign nationals who want to study in Canada. They apply for a Study permit from outside Canada (Inside Canada is also possible in some instances) and receive approval and a visa to travel to Canada. A final examination is performed at the port of Entry (Airport or landed border or sea), and students are issued a Study Permit. The Study Permit is valid up to the completion of the course; that’s the date mentioned on the Letter of Acceptance submitted with the visa application. Students, who do not complete their studies by the prescribed date for some reason, may apply for an extension of their Study permit in Canada.
Upon graduating, the student will be granted Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). PGWP allows students who have graduated from eligible Canadian designated learning institutions (DLIs) to obtain an open work permit to gain valuable Canadian work experience and be on the path to Permanent Resident.
